Livestream Events
January 11, 2023 - Honeycommb's Events system keeps getting better, now with Livestream Events where you can schedule and create livestream events before the stream begins
Now, when creating new events in the Control Center, network admins have the option of creating a Livestream event, alongside Meetup and Online event options.
The Livestream event type was created to make it more seamless (easy) for network admins to leverage both of Honeycommb’s Events and Livestream technologies.
Creating a Livestream Event
Creating a livestream event is much like creating a meetup or online event where an event name, description, media, and start and end date/time are required. You can also make livestream events premium and add other settings, like attachments and RSVP limit to make it “exclusive”.
Livestream Event Distinctions
There are some major differences a livestream event has relative to meetup or online events.
1. Online location automatically created
Once a livestream event draft is saved, the post link where the livestream will take place is created. This relieves the need to time the livestream go-live time up perfectly with the event. Event-goers can visit the livestream post prior to the livestream being live. If they do, they see the event art, title, description and date/time of the event AND once the livestream begins, the stream will automatically populate the livestream post.
This also allows the livestream event link to be shared beforehand. Network members will be asked to RSVP to view the event. Non-members will be asked to register for the network.
2. RTMP Stream URL & Stream Key automatically generated
Like the online location, once a livestream event draft is saved, the RTMP stream url and key are automatically created. This allows that information to be shared with the streamer before the event.
3. Livestream Video Post
Like other livestreams, once the livestream is complete, the livestream is rendered into a video that can be watched in playback after the event. Note that only those who RSVP’ed “I’m Going” will have access to this video playback. Admins can also choose to destroy the video so that no playback is allowed.
